The 2020 Nicaragua Mission Team is forming. Travel dates are June 20th-27th. The team is open to all LUMC Sr. High students, parents, young adults and other adults who are actively involved in the ministries of the church including worship, service, fellowship and Bible Study.

PLEASE NOTE: We continue to watch the political situation and our trip will be dependent on the continued safety of teams and stability of the country through 2019-2020. Please pray for our friends at El Ayudante and in the surrounding communities as they continue to minister God's love.

    About El Ayudante

You can read about our ministries in Nicaragua from this and prior years on our teams' Facebook page.   We're slowly migrating all our older blog entries from prior years (2007-2014) to our Facebook page.  If you are interested in photos and comments from those past mission trips, please visit our older WordPress blog  HERE

In 2006, LUMC began a relationship with El Ayudante, a Christian humanitarian organization based in Leon, Nicaragua. We sent our first team in 2007, and nearly every year since a team of youth and adults has traveled to Nicaragua to serve with the staff of El Ayudante in their mission to partner with the Nicaraguan people to transform the nation - one child, one family, and one community at a time.

Through the mission teams it hosts each year, El Ayudante shares God's love in local communities.  This might take the form of VBS-type programs in neighborhood schools, churches and community centers; sports camps; medical and dental clinics; construction of homes, kitchens, latrines and community centers; visiting the prison; serving in the Special Needs School; providing clothing and assembling and delivering care packages and water filters; or just loving on the children at the HCN, El Ayudante's on-campus Child Protection Center. All these ministries allow team members to work alongside and spend time with families of local communities, as well as the EA staff. To date, 125 church members representing 48 families in our church have made this journey, forging relationships over the years that have enriched our lives and strengthened our faith in so many ways.

We are excited to be part of God's work in Nicaragua and invite you to be part of this ministry through your prayers and, if you are so led, your financial contributions. You may make a tax-deductible donation by check to LUMC (memo:  Nicaragua Missions) which will help fund ministry by current and future teams.
