Children's Programs:

Our children's programs are designed to give children opportunities to learn and study God's Word in age appropriate ways.  We strive to support families in helping children to learn the Biblical basis for making good choices in life and to help children to establish a life-long relationship with Jesus Christ.  Please encourage your children to take part in Sunday School, Children's Church, and Wednesday Night Programs. 

Attention:  Parents of 3rd Graders

It is a tradition at LUMC to present Bibles to all third grade children whose families attend our church.  If you have a child in third grade this year or an older child who has never received a Bible from our church, please call the church office (340-5682) with your child's full name.  Each child will have his/her name engraved on the outside of a special Bible ordered just for him/her.  These will be presented during a worship service later this year.

SUNDAY SCHOOL REGISTRATION

We welcome information that will help us teach your child and create the safest possible environment for him or her:

• list any special needs, concerns, or requirements
• allergies, especially to any foods since we often have snacks in Sunday School
• the name of anyone other than yourself and your spouse who is allowed to pick up your child (2nd grade and younger)
• where you will be during Sunday School or a cell phone number in case we need to contact you for any reason
• if you'd like for us to hold your 3rd - 4th grader in the classroom until you come to pick him/her up (our current policy allows 3rd graders and older to leave to meet their parents inside the church building - let us know if you want us to do otherwise).

MOTHER'S MORNING OUT PROGRAM

Our Mother's Morning Out program is a parent cooperative for mothers or grandmothers and their children, ages 18 months through 3 years.   The program follows the Virginia Beach City Public Schools calendar and meets weekly during the school year on Wednesday mornings from 9:00am to 11:30am in the church nursery.  

Pre-registration for the Fall 2010 program is now taking place.  Participation is open to those who attend LUMC, as well as to members of the community.   If you are interested or need more information, please contact the church office at 340-5682.   

REACH OUT!  TEACH A CHILD...

     Be a part of a special ministry!  This fall we will need teachers and co-teachers in various rooms, including our preschool 1 room (2s and 3s), preschool 2 room (4s and 5s) and our video station for elementary.  Curriculum and training are provided.  Wednesday evening activities will resume in September - if you're interested in helping with this please contact Debbie.  We're always looking for  adult leaders and assistants in children's church, which is for 4 year olds - 3rd graders and meets every week during both of our morning services.   Our leaders for children's church lead one service a month or every other month.  Again, curriculum and materials are provided.  Sign up in the welcome center or outside of room 220 if you are able to be an assistant during one or more sessions.  Contact Debbie Andrews at 340-5682 or at dandrews@lumcvb.org with any questions. CHILD/YOUTH PROTECTION POLICY

     In an effort to provide the most secure environment possible for our children, youth and volunteers, Lynnhaven UMC adopted a child/youth protection policy several years ago.  Anyone who is currently working with or who plans to work with children and/or youth is required to go through a training session concerning this policy.  Please contact the church office at 340-5682 to arrange a time that we might go over this policy with you.  THANKS!
