In October 2008, a group of 17 adults went on a mission trip through ASP, the Appalachia Service Project. The mission of ASP is to make houses "Warmer, Safer, and Drier." The team spent a week working on three homes in Lee County, Virginia -- the westernmost county in the state. They replaced rotten floors in all three houses, including foundation posts, girders, floor joists, and plywood. It was such a wonderful experience that several group members signed up right away for the next mission!
A second team returned to Jonesville in April 2009 to work on a home that's being rebuilt from the foundation, up. This hard-working group of ten adults insulated all the walls and ceilings, hung drywall and installed new flooring -- an amazing transformation. A third team traveled to Jonesville in the Fall of 2009 and we plan to continue our commitment to serve through ASP in this part of our state. Watch for info on future teams to come!
