STUDENT LIFE MISSION CAMP 2018

For many people, summer is about taking it easy, relaxing, and looking out for number one.  But not for you.  You know you're called to something much greater.  You look beyond yourself to serve others.  It's a radical departure from what most everyone else is doing, but through this radical living you'll experience a hope that's life-changing -- for you, and for those you serve.  A life that brings glory to the ONE you serve.

DEADLINE TO REGISTER:  January 15th
(or when all spaces are filled, whichever comes first!)

Next summer, the LUMC Youth will participate in the Student Life Mission Camp at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA, July 9th-13th.  Mission Camp participants will reach the local community with the message of God’s love through service with children and the elderly or disabled, as well as meeting physical needs (soup kitchens, food pantries, etc.) or doing light construction or painting. Before and after our time at the ministry sites each day (10:30am-3:00pm), we’ll experience meaningful worship, fun fellowship times, and small-group Bible study.

A typical day at Student Life Mission Camp:

  • Morning – Daily quiet time / Morning Celebration and Send-Off / Work Site, Lunch, Prayer Gathering
  • Afternoon – (3:30pm-dinner) Free time and optional tracks available
  • Evening – Family Group Bible Study / Corporate Worship / “Late Nite” Activities & Church Group Time

Accommodations will be in dormitories on the campus of Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA.  For more information on Student Life Mission Camp, go to www.studentlife.com.

The trip is open to all LUMC Youth who are currently in Middle School or Sr. High and active in worship, Faith Formation, Small Group Bible Study or missions and service.  There will be a brief information meeting on Sunday, November 12th at 12:15pm in the Youth Room.  (Parents are encouraged to attend.)

A registration form is available online and this, along with a $60 non-refundable deposit, will hold your spot on the team.  You will also need to turn in an Application Form and Code of Conduct Form, and Student Life requires that all participants (youth AND adults) complete a Student Life  Waiver Form which must be notarized.  The deposit and all forms are due by Jan. 15, 2018, however, spaces are limited and will be assigned on a first-come, first served basis until the Jan. 15th deadline or when all spaces are filled, whichever comes first.

Total cost of the trip is $360 per student ($250 for adults) with $60 due as an initial non-refundable deposit (check payable to LUMC Youth). A second deposit of $100 is due on March 19th, and the final balance is due by June 10th.  Spaces are limited to 24 students and may be further limited by the number of available adult chaperones.
