HELPING HANDS MISSION is an annual overnight missions event sponsored by the Virginia Conference of the United Methodist Church. Children from churches around the Conference gather for two days of worship, fun, fellowship, and meaningful service  in the Richmond area.

In 2012, we went to two Helping Hand events. One in Midlothian, Virginia at Woodlake UMC and the second in Williamsburg, Virginia, at Williamsburg UMC.  Both experiences gave our children opportunities to serve others, to meet new friends from all over Virginia, to worship and praise God in kid-friendly ways, and to have fun with friends! In 2011, sixteen children and adults traveled in July to Woodlake United Methodist Church in Midlothian, Virginia for the event.  We were able to clean a stream and the surrounding forest area, as well as clean and stock the food pantry for the William Byrd Community Center. A swim party, kids' worship, pizza, ice cream, discussions about how to help the environment and others, sleeping overnight on the floor of a Sunday School room - all were part of our experience!
