     United Methodist Women is the world's largest denominational faith organization for women with approximately 800,000 members whose mission is fostering spiritual growth, developing leaders and advocating for justice.  
     Through their generosity, United Methodist Women members give up to $20,000,000 annually, which helps empower and improve the lives of women, youth and children in the United States and in more than 100 countries around the world.

     The LUMC chapter of the UMW has seven circles that meet monthly:

  • The Ann C. Bell Circle- 2nd Wednesday at 10:00am (Room 104 at church).  Supporting LUMC College Student Missions, H.E.R. Shelter for Battered Women, and Loving and Caring Ministries.
  • The Nell Melvin Circle - 2nd Thursday at 10:00am (at the church).  Supporting Beacon Shores Nursing Home, and Pennies for Prescriptions for Social Services.
  • The Nettie Hebden Circle- 3rd Monday at 7:00pm (at the church or in members' homes).  Supporting Robert Edward Day Virginia Wesleyan College Scholarship Fund, Wesley Memorial UMC Club Sandwich After-School & Summer Program.
  • The Friendship Circle - 3rd Thursday at 7:00pm (in members' homes).  Supporting Henry Fork Service Center.
  • The Joy Circle - 3rd Monday at 7:00pm (at the church).  Supporting Haven House For Kids.
  • The Promise Circle - 3rd Monday at 9:00am (at the church - nursery provided).  Supporting Virginia Beach Social Services Foster Care Program, and Disability Awareness.
  • The Melissa Mahoney Circle - 2nd Friday at 9:30am (at the church).  Supporting a Women's Chaplain with Good News Jail & Prison Ministry, and Young Life Multicultural.

     The UMW's purpose is to be a community of women who strive to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ, to develop a creative supportive fellowship, and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
